THE WORLD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE INTERNATIONAL HERO AWARD TO MAYOR KASIM REED and RECOGNITIONS TO PRESIDENT OF COLOMBIA, ALVARO URIBE AND OTHER DIGNITARIES

(ATLANTA, GA.) January 18, 2012. The World Chamber of Commerce (WCC) will be presenting the prestigious WCC International Hero Award to Mayor Kasim Reed. This Recognition of Excellency will be bestowed upon him for his accomplishments that have further strengthened international affairs.

Additionally, the WCC will recognizing Former President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, among other dignitaries for their great visionary work and global initiatives.

The WCC Event will be on February 2, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., at the Woodruff Arts Center. This will be a truly multicultural event where international leaders and government representatives from many countries will join the WCC recognizing Mayor Kasim Reed, President Alvaro Uribe and other dignitaries. Among the other dignitaries receiving the WCC recognition will be the U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young; U.S. Ambassador Charles Shapiro; Dean of the Consular Corps of Georgia and Consul General of Germany, Lutz Gorgens; Consul General of the United Kingdom, Annabelle Malins, Mark Becker, Georgia State University President, Dr. John Hardman, President of the Carter Center, Joe Bankoff, President of the Woodruff Arts Center; William Pate, Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau; Louis Miller, General Manager Atlanta International Airport, among other important members of the community.

"I am deeply honored to be recognized by the World Chamber of Commerce for the International Hero Award ," said Mayor Kasim Reed. "This award is emblematic of Atlanta's greatest attributes and reminds us that as an international city, we can do much to improve the lives of others around the world." Additionally, the WCC membership meeting and elections will be prior to the award ceremony. The WCC will elect a new Chairman, President, and other board members. The WCC invites members of the community to actively participate and vote on this WCC election to impact business and therefore, the economy.

Furthermore, the World Chamber of Commerce event will provide an opportunity to generate international trade awareness and promote humanitarian projects. One of the WCC goals is to promote international trade and stimulate economic development with these events. Additionally, part of the event's revenue will be donated to a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting "Human Trafficking Children Victims".''
