The World Chamber of Commerce at the 2022 U.S. – Africa Summit

The World Chamber of Commerce was represented by Arthur Orekyeh, WCC Director at the just concluded U.S. – Africa Summit which was held in Washington D.C.
 
African leaders and delegates from 49 African countries, as well as Africans in the Diaspora attended the just concluded U.S. – Africa Summit from December 13 through 15th 2022. It is important to note that the last time the U.S. – Africa summit was held was in 2014.
 
On the sidelines of the main summit were several events organized by various think-thanks and non-profit organizations such as the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Afronimicslaw,  USAID among others. 
 
One of such events hosted by the  Carnegie Endowment for International Peace was tagged “How Can the U.S. Support an Inclusive Digital Transformation in Africa?”. The event was held at  Carnegie Endowment for International Peace building located at 1779 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC. The focus of the discussion was on how:
  1.  to ensure that Africa adopts  technology that will make her more relevant in the future.
  2.  to ensure that Smart Africa and USAID initiatives  work together to promote digital transformation in Africa.
Another event hosted by Afronomicslaw and Open Society Africa tagged “Trade, Investment and Debt in U.S. – Africa Relations” was held at the Yours Truly DC Hotel – 1143 New Hampshire Ave NW Washington, DC 20037. The main topic of discussion was on the question whether it was better to renew the existing  Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) or to establish new bilateral Agreements with each African country? Some people were of the opinion that AGOA should be renewed.
